book spotlight (+ a giveaway!): The Joy of Swimming

The Joy of Swimming

I’ve followed Lisa Congdon’s work for awhile but it wasn’t until I heard her speak at a conference last fall, that I had the opportunity to learn more about her. Like countless others who love her work, I’m drawn to her playful illustrations and the way she illustrates typography as well as her bold experiments with color. When I discovered her new book was all about swimming, I couldn’t wait to share it with you.

According to the book jacket, The Joy of Swimming: A Celebration of Our Love for Getting in the Water “is an illustrated tribute to swimming” and I couldn’t agree more. In fact, it’s probably the cutest ode to swimming you’ll ever find. Congdon, an avid swimmer herself, fills the pages with illustrations of famous quotes, profiles of storied swimmers and historians of the sport as well as pages devoted to fun facts about the sport that she has spent a lifetime loving.

In celebration of summer, we’re giving away a copy of her book, and for all of you swimmers out there, you really don’t want to miss out on this book. It’s a perfect book for the coffee table.
