contributor spotlight: Meera Lee Patel
I first discovered Meera Lee Patel's work on a greeting card I picked up at one of my favorite shops in Boston, Olives & Grace. From a simple Instagram post, Meera and I formed a friendship, which led to her contributing to The Coastal Table. Her work will appear in our upcoming fall issue and I couldn't be more excited to feature it in our magazine.
Our nook theme this issue is all about journey and exploration, and Meera's illustration captures our round up of must-reads perfectly.
Meera is a self-taught artist whose work is inspired by the beauty of nature and the bold colors of her native India. Her light-hearted, colorful style has a way of making you happy just looking at it and her use of watercolor is pure perfection. From cards, calendars, posters, and books, Meera's illustrations capture a pure sense of spirit in each one.
Her new book, Start Were You Are: A Journal for Self-Exploration, is a sweet, little book that you'll want to curl up with for awhile. Filled with beautiful illustrations of meaningful quotes and phrases, each page prompts you to think, draw, or doodle what's on your mind, to spend some time with it, and use it as inspiration for your future. It's a wonderful keepsake that will inspire and guide you as you navigate your own personal journey.
the only journey is the one within.
