We all know we’re supposed to eat healthy, exercise, get enough sleep etc., but sometimes managing all of that can be hard. For us too. As you know from our recipes, we love a balance of things that are healthy with a side of indulgence now and then. We also love to find things that make our life better and easier, and Your Super is just that for us.

Your Super was started back in 2015 when Michael Kuech was diagnosed with cancer at the young age of 24. His partner Kristel de Groot quickly began looking for ways to boost his immune system to make him feel better. She grabbed every healthy thing she could find from wheatgrass to chia seeds to spirulina and begin on a mission. Her aunt Ellen, an orthonutritionst, offered her suggestions on what vitamins and minerals the body needs each day, in addition to what it needs to heal. From there, Kristel began mixing. And the result was 7 unique blends, each specific to a health benefit.

Here’s a few ways we use our mixes every day:

super green salad with cilantro-lime dressing

We love the mix of crunchy nuts and seeds with the creamy avocado but really anything goes in this salad so make it your own. Make the dressing right before serving.

  • Cilantro-lime dressing

  • 1/2 bunch fresh cilantro (with stems), washed and dried

  • 1 tablespoon Super Green

  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, optional

  • Juice from 1 lime

  • 3-4 tablespoons avocado oil

  • Kosher salt, to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 avocado

  • Sunflower seeds, to taste

  • Pumpkin seeds, to taste

  • Chopped almonds, to taste

  • Alfalfa sprouts, to taste

  • Fresh greens, washed and dried

  1. Make dressing. In a food processor, add cilantro, super green mix, vinegar, mustard, honey or maple syrup (If using), lime juice, 3 tablespoons oil, and season with salt and pepper. Pulse until smooth, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Taste and adjust as desired.

  2. Cut avocado in half and remove and discard pit. Scoop out flesh and dice.

  3. Place greens, avocado, seeds, nuts, and sprouts in a bowl. Drizzle with enough dressing to lightly coat, gently toss, and serve immediately.
