spiced pecans

spiced pecans

The agave nectar doesn’t really add much sweetness to the nuts, allowing the spices to shine through instead. While you can also use almonds or peanuts, we love how the spices nestle into the nooks and crannies of pecans.

  • Cooking spray, for greasing

  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Kosher salt, to taste

  • 2 cups pecans

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.

  2. In a bowl, add agave nectar, chili powder, cayenne powder, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt and stir until combined. Add nuts, and stir until they are completely coated. Transfer to prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, stirring once or twice, until lightly browned. Remove from oven and season with another pinch of salt. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Makes 2 cups.
