After years of living along the coast of Massachusetts, Karen J. Covey was inspired to write a cookbook about the region, celebrating all of the bounty it had to offer. And in the fall of 2013, The Coastal Table: Recipes Inspired by the Farmlands and Seaside of Southern New England, was published.

Through signings and events, Karen met a lot of people who not only loved the recipes, but the stories about the people and their products weaved throughout it. And it got her thinking…what if we continued to tell these kinds of stories in another format?

So Karen formed a team and created The Coastal Table, a quarterly journal that inspired with an authentic exploration of everyday life on the coast through photo-driven narratives, recipes, recommendations, and guides. During its publication, The Coastal Table won the IACP publication of the year in 2018, Best Epicurean Consumer Magazine from Folio: in 2017 and 2016, and was a finalist for Overall Magazine Design in 2017.

Now with a bounty of recipes from our publication—plus dozens of new ones—comes our first cookbook, Beach House Cooking: recipes for laid-back living. It’s a celebration of everything we love about life on the coast.
